Arrow Discover more

Small Group Family Holidays from Abercrombie & Kent are a fresh way for you to share the experience of tailor-made luxury travel with other like-minded families, in some of the world’s most remarkable destinations.

Each holiday is thoughtfully designed with A&K’s signature attention to detail. Their focus on learning made fun for kids is as sharp as ever. And of course, you can expect unforgettable adventure on a moment-by-moment basis; whether you’re ziplining through cloud forest in Costa Rica or having lunch with local Kenyan families.

But what really makes A&K Small Group Family Holidays different from simply travelling with other people, is the expertise and understanding of the company’s local guides, who have worked with A&K for so long they’re like family too; just particularly knowledgeable and culturally savvy family.

Of course, small is also a key difference in A&K’s new family holiday collection, so no group has more than 22 guests. You’ll have plenty in common with others right from the start, and every effort is made to include children of similar ages and interests in each group too.

Naturally, A&K’s talent for inspired itineraries means group holidays balance active fun and education beautifully, and still leave plenty of time to relax and get to know your fellow travellers. If you haven’t considered the idea of group travel before, A&K’s take on the idea is very refreshing.

Costa Rica family adventure

Costa Rica is tiny, only a third of the size of Switzerland, yet over 27% of the country is conservation area, and there are so many different animal, bird, and insect species here, an accurate head count is almost impossible.

It’s the land of sloths, and howler monkeys, and has such appeal to sea turtles there’s a vast national park almost totally dedicated to nurturing and protecting all seven known species.

No surprise then, that this little eco-icon, also known as the happiest country on earth, is one of the first destinations chosen for Abercrombie & Kent’s new Small Group Family Holiday collection.

Captivated by wildlife is a given for kids here, but they’re just as likely to be enthralled by guided tours round lively volcanic craters; surf lessons on the Pacific coast; ziplining through rainforest tree canopies; river rafting; or voyaging over vast, mysterious wetlands.

The itinerary is beautifully planned to see as much as possible in nine days, and still leave time to laze on big, white beaches, spend an hour or two shopping, or take as long as you like over lunch, now and then.

Kenyan family safari

Kenya as good as invented African safaris, but these days the country is as famous for conservation and culture as it is for sightings of the Big Five. A&K’s small group safari is all about bringing like-minded families together to share those unique experiences.

You’ll be in the company of guides who aren’t just local, they’re the best in Kenya and have worked with Abercrombie & Kent for decades. So almost nobody understands better than they do how to meet each guest’s needs and still create an incredible group holiday.

They’ll introduce you to traditional communities, and local Kenyan families, get you actively involved in exciting conservation initiatives and, naturally, make sure there’s plenty of wildlife in the mix too.

The holiday starts at Laikipia, one of Africa’s most admired private game reserves, and the only place on earth where you’ve a chance of seeing white rhino: the entire world population is just three, and they all live here.

Laikipia are sustainable safari tourism pioneers, and devoted to getting visitors involved far beyond spotting wildlife.

Kids have the chance to be mini-keepers, muck out animals, visit Maasai village schools, and even learn how to track lions (anything that involves droppings is usually a top bonding experience for kids).

Laikipia’s thrilling bush walks, and night game drives, combined with the luxury of Abercrombie & Kent’s gorgeous private tented camp, give parents plenty to bond over too.

Of course, no Kenyan safari is complete without the legendary Masai Mara in the mix. It’s the world’s most famous reserve thanks to The Great Migration, and three days here filled with group game drives, bush walks, and Maasai village visits to learn traditional skills like fire building and bow making, are destined to make some of the best collective memories imaginable.

A grown up perspective on the culture and customs in this fascinating part of the world is a fun part of the safari too, so you can look forward to experiences like meeting village elders, enjoying sundowners with fellow travellers, and learning local cooking skills.
