Whether it’s your first time on the slopes, or you’re a family of skiing experts, we’ve got all the advice, inspiration and tips you need for your next family ski holiday.
Family Traveller knows all about family ski holidays. We’re passionate about skiing ourselves and particularly with our kids, so we’re always keen to make sure that any ski trips you take with your children are great experiences too. But, although we love to ski, we aren’t all experts, so you’ll find we speak from experience when it comes to important stuff like bi-lingual ski schools for under-fives and where to find the best ski resorts in Europe for first time skiers.
Europe is always first choice for UK family ski holidays. For a start it’s mostly easy travelling distance for Christmas breaks, February half term or even Easter: some European ski destinations are snow-sure right through until April.
For the fastest family ski holidays France scores well, and not just in the northern Alps. We like the snowy family ski resorts in the south too, not least because quite a few are very sunny, even in the heart of winter. Ski holidays in Austria and Italy are also firm favourites with Family Traveller.
Then, in terms of good value ski packages, Slovakia and Slovenia are both very accessible and score well with us for authentic resorts and reasonably priced ski schools. So whether you want the best ski resorts in France or need to know where to ski with teenagers, we’ll have the answers to those questions along with a lot of others you might not have thought of asking.
Of course, once in a lifetime ski holidays are things we know a thing or two about as well. So if big mountain skiing in the US or Canada is on your family wish list, you’ll find plenty of expert advice and first hand experience to help you plan mighty adventures from Colorado to British Columbia.
Although, nothing if not egalitarian, we’ve tried out everything from luxury chalets and five-star hotels to all-inclusive ski holidays, tried and tested the most expensive to the cheapest and come back with an honest opinion so you can make up your own mind.
