This family-focused resort seamlessly combines comfort, adventure, and environmental awareness, while still offering some of the best kids’ entertainment I have ever seen (only beaten by its Dubrovnik sister resort: Valamar Tirena Dubrovnik).

The use of sustainable materials and energy-efficient solutions not only enhances the overall aesthetic appeal but also aligns with the resort’s commitment to being Net Zero.

Our suite was overlooking the river and surrounded with newly planted trees and plants. It also featured a solar panel on the roof which impressively ran all the electricity for our room, which also came stocked with fresh fruit and games for kids to play in the rare moments they weren’t playing outdoors.

So you’ll find plenty to do at every turn here, from the bikes, trikes, tractors and trailers scattered around the grounds for kids to ride (or race round the resort, like my kids did) to climbing frames, slides, trampolines, bug hotels and even ziplines.

Valamar Amicor really has thought of everything. The pool area has a brilliant paddle pool for the toddlers while still catering for the older kids with water slides and a full length swimming pool.

Then there’s Maro Club, a dedicated kids’ club provides engaging and educational activities to entertain children and give parents some well-deserved relaxation.

From beachside picnics to soft play and its own gaming room, Maro Club has something for all ages. But for us, the rooms where families could play together were the best part. We found them to be perfect after dinner to burn off that last bit of excess energy before bed or a snuggle down at Valamar Amicor’s outdoor cinema nights.

Between outdoor activities, Maro Club and all the little extras like board games in the room, bug hotels, 24hr pancakes and ice cream; the resort really gives families endlessly opportunities to bond, relax, and have fun together.

The resort’s commitment to making a family holiday in Croatia as sustainable as possible even extends to its good eating habits.

Guests can savour delectable meals made from locally sourced, organic ingredients, all of which highlight the rich flavours of the region. The main buffet style restaurant offers a diverse range of options, and meets most dietary preferences so even our oldest (definitely the pickiest eater in the family) was happy.

Hvar is stunning with endless mesmerising views, so you’re not short on opportunities for scenic walks if you are itching to go beyond the resort.

Stari Grad, one of the oldest towns in Europe and ridiculously quaint, is just a five minute drive away for local bars, restaurants and the fun of watching boats sail in and out of the port. However, the resort itself features a private beach which outdoes most others with its challenging water obstacle course: great for kids and adults, if you dare.
