Has the latest addition to Megève made the chic French ski resort even cooler for families? Georgina Blaskey visited recently with her family to find out.
La Suite Idéal arrives at Megève
Imagine waking to the sun rising over mountain peaks, rousing your children to sneak out into the breaking dawn, then gliding down freshly groomed slopes before other families have even started breakfast.
Privacy, stargazing and your very own butler
Now at on-piste apartment, La Suite Idéal, this type of blissful experience is reality in Megève, where the new 3-night Suite Ideal package gives guests one night at Suite Ideal and two nights at either Four Seasons Hotel Megève or Les Chalets du Mont d’Arbois.
Suite Idéal sits above mountainside restaurant, L’Idéal 1850, can sleep eight people and couldn’t be easier to reach. Come the end of the day, families simply take the last cable car up the mountain to enjoy a private dinner and stargazing from their own balcony, all hosted by a personal butler.
La Suite Idéal is part of the Four Seasons Megève Collection which not only includes both resort hotels, but also a range of bespoke experiences including ski concierge services, where staff fit and care for your equipment.
Fall in love with Megève for more than just skiing
Known as chic, yet warm and welcoming, Megève accesses a huge ski area at the heart of the Domaine Évasion Mont-Blanc. Although it also offers plenty of activities beyond the slopes. A 715-metre long toboggan run thrills older kids, as does snowmobiling, dog sledding, and electric fat bike riding!
Gentler types can skate on either the resort’s Olympic ice rink or its open-air village rink, and there are horse-drawn carriage rides round town too.
Magical snowshoeing experiences arrive this winter
New for this season, families can also go snowshoeing through pine forests with local guides to find an adorable candlelit igloo nestled amidst the fir trees where you can savour an assortment of local fare along with homemade sweet delights. Even more magical is the return journey, as the sun sets behind the mountains and night falls, gifting you a star-studded sky to admire as you snowshoe your way home.
La Suite Idéal independence with Four Seasons luxury
Back at the resort, there are two hotels to choose from, depending on your vibe. Four Seasons Hotel Megève takes a contemporary approach to the alpine chalet, offering 55 rooms and suites, a huge spa, Michelin-starred restaurants, and direct access to the slopes via the Cry ski lift.
Then, a stone’s throw away, lies Les Chalets du Mont d’Arbois, which features warm, traditional mountain décor. Originally owned by the Rothschild family, the Chalets now house 41 rooms and suites, along with a smaller spa, and La Table de Noémie restaurant.
Your children with love the Four Seasons kids clubs
Families staying at La Suite Idéal can dine at both hotels and are welcome to use all facilities, including kids clubs designed with the care and attention to detail you’d expect from Four Seasons which is known worldwide for its amazing children’s clubs.
Kids aged from 3 to 11, can look forward to a weekly activity programme during school holidays, all set in a dedicated space inspired by nature right down to a central tree trunk, twinkly starlit ceiling and charming murals. Although the real party is definitely in the teen zone with its DJ booth, jukebox, life-size Mario Kart games, table football, and cool-down cinema corner.
After all that activity, you might want to lean into La Suite Idéal’s relaxation options. Just ask and your Bath Butler will drop off a package of post-ski products, such as Epsom salts, arnica bath oil, lavender essential oil and magnesium shavings: to give a newfound lightness to weary legs. Kids will love the bath bombs, along with candy and chocolate they can put on their skin.
Indulge at the largest spa in the French Alps
Taking indulgence even further, Four Seasons Hotel Megève is also home to the largest spa in the French Alps where the new Alpine Glow face and body ritual is reason alone to treat yourself.
And so to dinner. We particularly liked Kaito for the fun of kids’ Bento Boxes with cute panda chopsticks, as well as its sophisticated, yet family-friendly Japanese dishes, all created using local ingredients.
And if you aren’t quite ready for bed after dinner, babysitting is available, so you can retire to Bar Edmond for a nightcap, then indulge in some thoroughly grown-up stargazing on your terrace at La Suite Idéal.
