Ambassador Cruise Line is offering families the chance to sail on the cheap this summer on an incredible multi-generational cruise to Scandinavia, and by cheap we mean seriously cheap! In fact kids can travel for just £1.

Possibly the cheapest family cruise deal you’ve ever seen!

Ambassador Cruise Line currently has child fares on sale for just £1 – yes, that’s just one British pound and no more.

The mega cheap cruise deal applies to Ambassador’s multi-generational 14-night cruise to Scandinavia on July 23 onboard its new first ship Ambience from London Tilbury.

The Hidden Nordics Treasures itinerary visits Sweden, Denmark and Finland and is perfect for families to all travel together over the summer.

Ambassador Cruise Line generally operates for adults over 18 (with cruises targeted at passengers aged over 50) but the brand does offer a number of multi-generational cruises throughout the year – and this is the cheapest we’ve seen yet!

The £1 offer is available for infants over six months up to youths under 18, with adult prices starting from £699. That’s only £1,400 for a family of four for two weeks full board – we said it was cheap! However, it’s only available for one more month so you better act fast!

What to see and do on the Hidden Nordics Treasures cruise

Departing from London Tilbury port, the Hidden Nordics Treasures first stop is Copenhagen in Denmark. You may well recognise the brightly coloured townhouses in historic Nyhavn from photos of the city!

As for what to do, Copenhagen boasts a zoo and an aquarium as well as the oldest theme park in the world, perfect for keeping kids busy. There are museums and castles aplenty should you seek some history and culture, and you can’t miss the iconic Little Mermaid statue inspired by Hans Christian Anderson’s fairytale of the same name.

Tallinn in Estonia is another highlight – the Old Town is one of the best-preserved Hanseatic town centres in the world!

Next is Helsinki in Finland where the skyline is dominated by the majestic onion domes of the Russian Orthodox Cathedral. For children, there’s the Linnanmäki Amusement Park (the oldest theme park in Finland), a zoo, the SkyWheel – a 40m-high traditional Ferris wheel on the southern harbour, a museum of natural history and more.

Ambassador includes an overnight stay in Stockholm, Sweden, so you can really get your teeth into the city. Did you know, the capital is made up of 14 islands connected by around 50 bridges? It’s also very child-friendly. Check out The Viking Museum, the children’s zoo, the aquarium, the amusement park Gröna Lund, Junibacken – a museum devoted to young children’s literature, beaches, swimming lakes and even the amphibious bus Ocean Bus for a unique sightseeing tour.

Visby, Sweden – famous for its splendid medieval architecture – and Skagen, Denmark – an old fishing village dating back 600 years – are also on the itinerary which concludes back at London Tilbury.

All you need to know about Ambassador Cruise Line

Food is included in the cruise fare but passengers will need to pay extra to dine in Ambience’s speciality restaurants. Drinks packages are available to buy too.

Families should note that while the cruise line welcomes youngsters there are no dedicated children’s facilities on board.

There are pools onboard Ambience but children using the facilities must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times.

What’s more, for public health reasons, kids in nappies (including swim nappies) and those who are not toilet trained are not allowed in the public swimming pools or whirlpools on the ship.

As for Covid rules in place, all guests over 18 need to be fully vaccinated (including boosters) against COVID-19 while children aged 12 to 17 years must have had two doses of a UK-approved COVID-19 vaccination in order to travel. Children aged 11 years and under do not need to be vaccinated to cruise.

Guests will also be subject to a lateral flow test at the port on the sailing date. The situation will be under constant review with updates posted on Ambassador’s website.

Children will need to be in the third or fourth berth, sharing a cabin with two adults paying the full fare.
