Not just a ‘honeymoon island’, it’s home to one of the most flawlessly preserved medieval cities in Europe, which also happens to be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

To glimpse authentic island life, go exploring round some of the island’s charming mountain villages. Or if you’re taken with classic Rhodes, climb up to the Lindos Acropolis which towers over lovely Lindos Village on the south coast. Visit during summer and you can see why Butterfly Valley deserves its name, although this fairy tale nature reserve is a delight at any time with its sweet little streams, shady nooks and pretty pathways.
