Cruise with Disney: AmaWaterways & Adventures by Disney’s Family Cruises

Last updated 2nd November 2017

Why Go

Combine the impeccable service and dedication to families provided by Disney with the impeccable accommodations and dining found on AmaWaterways and you get one fantastic family vacation. AmaWaterways’ distinguished river ships welcome children 8 and up for a Disney-led itinerary along the Rhine and Danube Rivers. However, you won’t find Mickey Mouse and character meet and greets. This is Disney refined. This is Adventures by Disney, a tour operation that provides family fun and friendly guides on authentic outings throughout various countries. Show your kids the world with Adventures by Disney, especially with the river cruises.

Itineraries include the Rhine and Danube Rivers with unique sailings highlighting the holidays, food and wine, Oktoberfest, and explorations that both adults and children will love. Visit a chocolate museum and attend a chocolate-making workshop, walk amongst the cobbled street of Heidelberg Castle, ride underground slides in the salt mines of Austria, bike along the river with stops in quaint towns to stroll vineyards and grab an ice cream.

The cruises are all-inclusive of excursions, meals, drinks, entertainment, bottled water, Wi-Fi, guides and tips. Although a Disney-led cruise, the ship is entirely AmaWaterways and is not outfitted with Disney décor.

What Kids Can Do

Kids are welcome on all on-shore excursions, with some specific outings geared for children only, led by Adventures by Disney’s experienced and often local guides. Junior Adventurers can enjoy on-ship activities like movie nights, sing-a-longs, ice cream parties, cooking classes and a captain’s tour.

Complimentary bicycles are available to explore destinations on your own, with easy-to-follow maps.

Cabins for Families

AmaWaterways cabins were originally designed to hold no more than three people. You will want to book two cabins when traveling with kids, if you can, to have more space, which may include a balcony, should you choose the higher prices cabins. Four suites with pull-out sofas are available with 350 square feet or space, but the remaining 74 cabins are 210 to 235 square feet.

Dining for Kids

Kid-friendly menus include child-size portions of the meals adults may be enjoying. Kid-only meals are also provided, supervised by Adventure Guides who keep the kids occupied while you enjoy a longer dinner and date night.
