Spring stroll
You’ve tried the wine but have you visited the estate? On 9 April, Sharpham House & Gardens open their gates and invite you to take a stroll through spring delights in the gardens and discover secret stories in the house. With music and storytelling, the grown-ups can take a tour or a talk and the kids can enjoy an Easter trail around the gardens, campfire cooking, and nature arts and crafts under the Yew Tree.
Sailing boats on the sea at Salcombe

If by then you’re in need of some vitamin sea, treat the family to afternoon tea in the sunshine on board your own exclusive yacht. Enjoy stunning views of Salcombe, the ria (valley) and the dinghy racing aboard Sailfunk. Relax, unwind and let the world pass you by while enjoying a delicious afternoon tea. This year sees the Salcombe Distilling Co. open its doors to students with the ultimate gin experience for the curious gin lover. At their outstanding distilling laboratory for adults, you will take charge of a beautiful copper mini-still to develop and distil your very own 70cl bottle of gin. Under the guidance of one of their distillers, you will learn about the art of distillation and what it takes to produce a well-balanced and harmonious gin, whilst enjoying a Salcombe & Tonic or two… the perfect way to learn!
Paper Bird Island
No need to worry if it’s a wet day with papier mâché boxes, animal shapes and our hanging bird greeting cards all waiting to be decorated at Paper Bird Island. Suitable for all ages from two years including adults, join one of their bookable art workshops and get creative.

Not scared of a little mud, book the kids in for a Forest Day and you’ll wish you could stay with them as they spend the day exploring the woods, building dens and fire lighting with the guys at Beeson Forest & Beach. At the end of the day join them round the fire pit for hot chocolate, marshmallows and a bit of outdoor cooking!

If Easter really is just all about the chocolate then there are plenty of Easter egg hunts at National Trust properties across South Devon or attraction such as Pennywell Farm where egg rolling, tossing and miniature pig racing are the norm. Arrive early on Good Friday and you can enjoy a free hot cross bun with every drink purchased before 11am. Guess the weight of the Easter bunny and bottle feed the lambs and goat kids for a complete day out in Devon. After the tenth chocolate egg, you may want to spice things with some chilli chocolate from the South Devon Chilli Farm. With a chilli shaped playground, the Chilli Challenge and trails for the children, it’s the perfect place to stop for lunch or a chilli cream tea!
