World’s Fastest and Tallest Spinning Roller Coaster Opens

Last updated 26th March 2018

The world’s fastest, steepest and tallest spinning roller coaster has opened, and you won’t find it at one of the theme parks you may think. No, this new coaster is found at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri. When we say spinning ride, we aren’t talking tea cups. This is a 360-degree controlled spin coaster that is two years in the making, at a cost of $26 million.

With Time Traveler’s debut, it breaks several world records for complete-circuit spinning roller coasters, including:

  • Top speed of 50.3 miles per hour for fastest coaster
  • A 10-story, 90-degree vertical drop…straight down, for steepest spin coaster
  • A mountainous terrain with its tallest point at 100 feet, for tallest spin coaster
  • A dive loop, a vertical loop and a zero-g roll, making it the first and only spin coaster with three Inversions
  • The aforementioned vertical loop is 95-foot tall, and is the first and only spin coaster with a vertical loop
  • The spin coaster is also the first and only double launch coaster, with 0 to 47 mph in 3 seconds and 30 to 45 mph in 3.5 seconds

“Since Silver Dollar City’s opening day in 1960, guests have taken a journey back in time with unique and world-class experiences,” said Brad Thomas, president of Silver Dollar City Attractions. “We strive daily to continue that tradition through our rides, our festivals, our crafts and our food. That pursuit continues in 2018 with Time Traveler – a Revolutionary Coaster Ahead of Our Time.”

Time Traveler opened with the park’s Spring Ride Days, March 14.
