As a family that loves to travel, here at Wanderlustyle, we wanted to start it off slow with a nearby getaway. When it comes to Hawaii family vacations in Waikiki , it is ideal to stay somewhere central for ease of access to restaurants, shopping, family entertainment and of course, Waikiki beach! A staycation at the Sheraton Waikiki was a premium choice to start off Summer.

Sheraton Waikiki is perfect for Hawaii family vacations
We stayed in the Ohana Suite: a two bedroom, two balconies, one massive bathroom, and living room suite. We were immediately blown away by the gorgeous views. Both sides of the suite had balconies overlooking the surfers from Diamond Head and sunset views looking towards the West. It felt as if we were floating over the water when stepping out onto the balcony. Talk about aerial shots without the drone. Marriott Bonvoy offers modern solutions for travelers, like keyless entry, contactless check-in, mobile room service, and more. Any family member, young or old, would enjoy the spacious room and beautiful scenery. Also, if you are a loyalty member, don’t forget you can earn and redeem points, and enjoy the benefits along the way!

Fun family activities from hula lessons to Haku bracelet making
Sheraton Waikiki offer’s many family activities to take advantage of! During our stay, they had activities such as morning yoga, water zumba workout, koi fish feeding, ribbon lei making, Haku bracelet making, and hula lessons. Most of the activities are complementary to guests, just be sure to make a reservation.

With the ever changing landscape of the pandemic guidelines, Marriott Bonvoy has been at the forefront of the industry. Mobile check-in is available via the Marriott Bonvoy™ app. Additionally, when staying at Sheraton you can expect to have a plethora of hand sanitizer stations throughout the lobby and on each floor. Hotel staff were also wearing all the required PPE whenever providing room care and services. Not only that, but we witnessed every day how there would be staff cleaning public areas with Electrostatic Spraying very frequently. As a reminder: the State of Hawaii has mandated that face coverings must be worn when in indoor public areas and practice appropriate social distancing.

If you’re a coffee lover like us, then be sure to make a stop at Honolulu Coffee, just outside of the main lobby elevators. Marriott hotel restaurants can charge your food to your room if eating at other Marriott hotels in Waikiki between Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, The Royal Hawaiian Hotel, Moana Surfrider Hotel, and Sheraton Princess Kaiulani Hotel. Other notable eateries around the area are:

- Azure Restaurant & Bar
Finally, if you’re interested in a more community oriented feel, then be sure to visit a local Farmers’ Market! The closest one will be KCC Farmers Market located at Kapi’olani Community College on Saturdays from 7:30am – 11am
