Congratulations!
You’re a family of nature lovers
Caladesi Island & Honeymoon Island
Your family is definitely at one with nature, so we think you’ll love these peaceful St. Pete / Clearwater island beaches.
Not only is Honeymoon Island one of Florida’s best-loved state parks, it’s also home to some of the state’s shyest creatures. Step out with kids on the three mile trail through one of the world’s last remaining virgin slash pine forests, and keep watch for the likes of gophers, tortoise, raccoons and even armadillo. The skies are just as wild here too. So don’t be surprised to spot eagles, osprey and great horned owls soaring overhead. And the island beach is another wonder of nature, stretching for four, unbroken miles and practically begging you to explore. Need to know more? The Rotary Centennial Nature Center spills all the insider details on Honeymoon’s history and natural advantages.
Then, for an out of the ordinary, only in St. Pete/Clearwater adventure, catch a ferry from Honeymoon Island and sail to Caladesi Island: it’s literally the only way to go.
Once you’re there, give in to the gentle island ways. Kayak in mangrove forests. Listen to the ocean breeze whispering through the slash pines. Follow a nature trail inland to historic Scharrer Homestead. Or head for the beach, kick off your shoes and treat your feet to Caladesi’s pristine sands.
