Why choose Northern Utah for active family vacations?
Northern Utah is a place I’ve gone to since I was a kid myself. Being from Southern Idaho, I spent so many summers of my youth camping, hiking, and boating there, and now I visit it frequently with my two sons. In addition to being just over an hour north of our home in Salt Lake City, it’s close to family. We spent this staycation enjoying the outdoors as well as reconnecting with my many relatives that I haven’t been able to see for over a year.

Springhill Suites by Marriott in Logan was the perfect place to stay while we were there. It is located right along the picturesque Logan River, with plenty of nearby walking trails and shade-filled parks. Our room’s view to the mountains was definitely a plus as well. My kids love the spacious rooms and breakfast (so glad hot hotel breakfasts are back again!) I really appreciated the comfortable beds after a day of activities.
In Logan there’s plenty of coffee shops, a crepery, and a generous amount of soda and cookie shops (a quirky Utah obsession). If you want a delectable local meal, check out Herm’s Inn, Morty’s Cafe, or Angie’s Diner. On this trip however, we set our sights on the Bear Lake area, just under an hour’s drive up the scenic Logan Canyon.
