Why Go

Take the kids to an international destination, without the long, overnight flight by booking a trip to Montreal, in the province of Québec. The modern city is friendly and welcoming and has history at every turn. From its beginnings 375 years ago showcased in Old Montreal to its Olympic splendor at Parc Olympique to its namesake Mount Royal and its splendid hiking and Saint-Joseph’s Oratoire, there is something for everyone. You can also treat the kids to some fabulous cuisine, not to mention the numerous festivals. More than 120 festivals take place annually, including the fabulous family-friendly Jazz Fest every summer.

Where to Go

This modern city is filled with hotel options, and of course, you’ll find five-star brands at every turn. Choose from the Ritz-Carlton, Sofitel, Fairmont and Intercontinental, as well as Montréal’s prestigious Place d’Armes Hotel and the Hotel Le St-James.

What to Do

You’ll definitely want to visit Old Montreal for a taste of history. The cobbled streets are mainly pedestrian-only and filled with restaurants and shops, all within steps of the marina, parks and Notre Dame, a beautiful cathedral not to be missed.

Travel to Mont Royal and climb to the top for a visit to L’Oratoire with views of the city and a towering basilica. A large park is perfect for picnics, bike rides, hikes and kite flying.

Along the banks of the St. Lawrence River and on its islands, you will find play areas, the Biodome, the Science Centre, and the La Ronde amusement park, all favorites of locals and travellers alike.

The city also has plenty of new attractions to show off, including a new 360-degree observatory — the Observatoire Place Ville Marie — a giant ferris wheel, an urban zipline and a pirate ship to visit from the air.
