Robin Hutson

Robin Hutson is a Boston-based travel writer and photographer who has lived in Memphis, Dallas, Paris, and New York. Robin features luxury hotels for her website, Luxe Recess, and is in search of the perfect luxury family resort.

What’s your favorite vacation destination as a family? As a family, we are obsessed with resort lazy rivers. It is the one thing we all enjoy equally, and it’s the closest thing to a yoga class we can do together.

What’s your favorite vacation destination as a couple? We love just about any walkable city to explore local architecture, museums, and restaurants: New York, London, Newport, Charleston, Paris, and Venice.

Your first family vacation memory with your kids? We traveled a lot from when my first born turned six weeks old. I recall strolling her in St. Armand’s Circle in Sarasota struggling to figure out a vacation vibe when I was still so overwhelmed as a new mom.

What’s your kids favorite vacation? My kids really embrace resort vacations and love a good kids’ club, a chance to ride bikes, a pool cabana, and a chance to meet new friends their age.

What would you take on a desert island? If my phone would only work, that would suit me fine: news and The New Yorker, ebooks (the entire Outlander series), and the complete works of Bach and Led Zeppelin would cover most music moods.
What’s on your family vacation wish list? We would love to go to Morocco, Hawaii, Mauritius, and the national parks of Utah and California.
