True Blue Bay Resort, Grenada

Last updated 15th May 2018

Planning a vacation to Grenada? The perfect property for families is the True Blue Bay Resort. A family-owned hotel, overlooking the waters of the True Blue Bay. The owners – Russ Fielden (UK) and Magdalena Fielden (Mexico) – worked together in the Yacht chartering and hospitality industries for almost 30 years before moving to Grenada with their children and purchasing the hotel in 1998. A former indigo plantation, True Blue Bay is one of the most desired areas of Grenada and the home to St. George’s University. The owners have renovated and expanded the property from three, two-bedroom cottages and four waterfront apartments to its current well-appointed state, which now boasts nearly fifty rooms of various layouts, including studios, suites and villas. The property also includes a waterfront restaurant, a marina, a dive center, a yacht charter, a boutique, two pools and spa.

You will be charmed by the unique and colorful resort. The owners personally designed the hotel, each room and the décor. The staff take great care of the grounds made up of tropical gardens. The friendliness of the owners and staff will make you feel like part of their extended family (you may even see their granddaughter running around the play area). The resort is conveniently located just a short drive from popular sites on the Caribbean island.

Start the day with complimentary breakfast and then explore the island. You’ll find water activities, local beaches, restaurants and shopping just a shuttle ride away. You can easily enjoy all the island has to offer from this spot. The helpful concierge staff will make tour and outing arrangements for you. Need a babysitter? They’ll set that up too. Anything to ensure your stay at the True Blue Bay exceeds your expectations.

Families will love the on-site restaurant, which is also popular with locals and ex-pats. With themed nights and entertainment, the restaurant provides a family-friendly environment that makes a “night in” feel like a “night out.” Chef Cardine ensures that you will not be bored with the menu as there are new additions each evening. The homemade desserts cannot be missed! Teens might like an interesting food find in “the Shizzle,” which is every delicious snack you can imagine all on top of a pizza. The grown-ups might like the locally-brewed beer from the West Indies Brewery, which has a microbrewery onsite. (If you’re putting little ones to bed early, room service is also available.) There are cooking classes, chocolate and rum tastings all conveniently on-site. These are all of the fun family activities that are included in your stay.

There are also two relaxing saltwater pools on the property. The beach pool is an infinity pool with views of the bay, and the second pool offers a water slide and nearby play area for the kids. Visitors training for a dive can sometimes be found in full gear at the deeper end of the pool – so just be aware. The on-site dock at the hotel hosts the dive center, marina, yacht charter, kayaks and hobie cats. The hobie cat is a relaxing way to get out on the water and take in the views from a different perspective. If you time your visit to the dock just right, you may even see the catch of the day being prepared for cooking.

The Blue Haven Spa serves as a great escape with beautiful décor and professional service. One of the most unique experiences is the “Chocolate Spa Package” in which you receive a menu of services to choose from. The chocolate scrub, wrap and facial are an amazing experience that you cannot get anywhere else. Your stay includes classes at the yoga studio. The open air studio is a serene environment with a host of experienced teachers that are there to guide and adjust you during the class. The warmth of the sun and sounds of water add to the ambience of the Sanaklpa Yoga Studio.

A week at the True Blue bay makes Grenada seem like a “home away from home.” This Caribbean paradise provides both relaxation and indulgence for you and the kids.
