Le Bristol, Paris

Last updated 16th October 2017

Why go?

This hotel may be extravagant, but if it’s luxury with your family you’re after then this legendary grand getaway on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré is ideally located just a short walk from all the major sites: Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Champs-Élysées and the Eiffel Tower.

Le Bristol boasts a dazzling five-stars thanks to its old-school decor (chandeliers, acres of marble) and luxe amenities (three-Michelin star restaurant, world class spa) yet despite all this, Le Bristol ingeniously manages to still be child-friendly.

Who is it good for? While children of all ages are welcome, the hotel is especially geared towards toddlers and young children. From the moment they step foot in Le Bristol and spot Fa-raon, the hotel’s fluffy cream cat who hangs out in reception, they’ll feel right at home. Efficient staff greet little ones with enthusiasm rather than horror and consequently, you don’t feel the need to speak in the hushed tones reserved for most stuffy five-star city hotels.

There’ll be squeals of excitement when you reach your spacious room and discover a cuddly toy of the hotel’s mascot Hippolyte, a white gardening rabbit, together with a welcome snack (there’s Hippolyte-themed baby bed linen too).

Activities

Children are invited to explore the hotel on a treasure hunt with staff to find Hippolyte’s gardening tools (bucket, watering can, basil seeds and a tiny terracotta pot), which they can keep and plant at home. There’s also a reasonably sized kids activity room, Les Amis d’Hippolyte, which is packed full of toys and thoughtfully located on the first floor next to the new Spa le Bristol by Le Prairie. The small boat-style swimming pool on the sixth floor with stunning rooftop views of Paris is a great place for kids to splash around and burn up excess energy. Additional fun activities are also on offer, so be sure to check the hotel’s website to discover what’s on when you’re visiting the hotel.

Food: Le Jardin Francais is an enclosed garden at the heart of the hotel, and a lovely spot for an al fresco family lunch or supper in the summer. There’s also a tasty children’s menu available.
