Hard Rock Hotel Cancun Guide

Why Go

You wouldn’t be the first person surprised by the fact we took our kids to the Hard Rock Hotel in Cancun for a family vacation, but I’m here to tell you it was actually one of the most fun family friendly trips we’ve taken. It was truly hard to get us to leave and go back home because we were having such a blast. Hard Rock Cancun is located right along a beach with crystal blue waters and it’s all inclusive, but that’s just scratching the surface of why it was so great. The food is delicious, the service was out of this world, and the resort offers really unique experiences. There was tons to do right on site, so much that families could very well spend their entire vacation at the resort. Your kids will never be bored and huge bonus… neither will you!

What to Do

The resort grounds at Hard Rock are huge and they do not disappoint. They offer two pools and two hot tubs, meaning there’s a place for families but areas for some adult only time too. Our little ones loved that the kid’s pool had some fun slides and a little playground area. Even by the freestyle pool, there were kid club cast members walking around making balloon animals and doing crafts. While our kids did crafts by the pool, my husband and I got the chance to break away and enjoy some relaxing cocktails at the poolside bar. If you’re in need of even more relaxation, you can check kids 4-12 into the Little Big Club. There’s themed rooms, inflatable bouncers, video games, live performances, and their own dining area. It was one of the best kid club experiences my kids ever had, and they have stayed at many top family resorts. This is a beach resort, but don’t let that fool you, there’s so much more to do here than just the beach and swimming. We got to have some really unique experiences like a foam party at the pool, which was surprisingly kid friendly, and my boys even got the chance to see what it’s like being a DJ and spinning music. If you get the chance to visit Hard Rock, you have to experience their music lab. You can be a true rocker, dress up and even make your own music video. And of course, don’t miss out on the amazing family friendly shows the hotel boasts. Our whole family was entertained by the Michael Jackson Tribute and the incredible Magician that performed during our stay.

Family Accommodations

There are several room configurations that work well for families including the 2-bedroom Deluxe Family Room which is basically two adjoining rooms, one with a king bed and the other with two double beds or the Two Bedroom Suites. Smaller families can also fit in the Deluxe Gold Rooms which have the option of two double beds. While not specific to families kid will enjoy the giant hot tub which is situated in the middle of the rooms. Our kids felt like rock stars as they enjoyed jacuzzi time in our hotel room while watching their favorite tv shows. It is one of those memories they will always remember.

Special Amenities for Kids

The Hard Rock Cancun offers a wonderful kids club for ages 4-12 called the Little Big Club where kids are supervised for fun interactive activities as well as live shows from some of their favorite characters including Barney, Angelina Ballerina, Bob the Builder, and Thomas the Train. There is also an incredibly unique experience called the Music Lab for older teens (and adults) where they can learn to mix music, create their own music video, and check out the music studio.

Where to Eat

This resort absolutely loves children so you will find no problem at all locating kid-friendly and familiar eating options at each of their dining locations thanks to their kids menus. However, my children quickly discovered a few favorites on property including Zen a sushi bar and teppan restaurant where they loved watching the skilled teppan chefs prepare their meal right before their eyes. Frida was another favorite with it’s indoor/ outdoor vibes, delicious Mexican cuisine and fresh tortilla chips that are served as soon as you sit down. Definitely save room for the housemade churros with dipping sauces though. They are fantastic! Lastly, the kids could not seem to get enough of the 24-hour room service offered with the all-inclusive package.

Getting Around

Located just 30 minutes from the Cancun International Airport the Hard Rock Cancun is easily accessed via transfer through the hotel, uber, airport taxi, bus, or rental car. Drivers looking to rent a car in Mexico should be aware of the local tax all rental car companies charge which tacks on an additional $30-$40 per day. This fee will not be listed on the car rental website but rather added on after you arrive. Many attractions also offer round trip transportation from the main area hotels which we have found to be extremely convenient.
