If your kids are anything like mine, skiing is out and snowboarding is in. With Utah’s slopes providing warmer temperatures and soft powder, they make for excellent first-timer slopes for kids wanting to learn how to shred. Here are the best programs to teach kids to snowboard:
Burton LTR Centers
Burton is known for its snowboards and to help introduce newcomers to the sport, they provide Learn-to-Ride (LTR) programs all over the country. In Utah, the centers can be found at Brighton, Brian Head Ski Resort, Park City Mountain, Powder Mountain and Snowbasin Resort.
Solitude
The Moonbeam Ski and Snowboard Academy on Solitude offers lessons in small sizes. Kids can try out the Junior Explorer program that focuses specifically on snowboarding, with games and fun that keep kids interested.
Snowbird
The “Big Mountain’s” snowboard program starts for kids as young as 3 and teaches beginners to back country experts. Group and private lessons are available, with tailored programs for snowboarders.
Wasatch Adaptive Sports
Even those with adaptive needs can learn to board at both Snowbird and Sundance mountain resorts. Since 1977, the program is one of the top snow schools in the country and teaches kids how to get on the snow and ride.
