Starting This Summer You Can Go Glamping at Mount Rushmore

Last updated 3rd May 2018

Picture waking up in a luxurious bed and breathing in the fresh mountain air of the Black Hills in South Dakota. You peel back the flaps on your tent and are welcomed with a stunning sunrise view of one of the country’s most legendary landmarks: towering Mount Rushmore. Starting this summer you’ll be able to do just that. Under Canvas, a company that specializes in glamping hotels at National Parks across the United States, is opening several new destinations for campers. In addition to the new Mount Rushmore location, the company is coming to Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountains. Leave the sleeping bags behind, but don’t forget to pack your sense of adventure.

Under Canvas opens May 10, 2018, with tents accommodating up to four guests. You’ll find Deluxe tents with en suite bathrooms and a king bed, Suites with an additional lounge area with queen sleeper sofa, and Safari tents with wood-burning stove. Camp cots for kids can be added to these tents for $25 per cot, per night. Pets are welcome for an additional $25 per pet, per stay. Under Canvas is also operating similar glamping at Grand Canyon, Moab, Yellowstone, Glacier, Zion and Great Smoky Mountains National Parks.

You can book a special Rushmore Expedition Package, priced at $5,600 for a family of four, which includes three nights lodging, three daily meals per day, a full-day tour of the Black Hills, a 30-minute massage (for adults), and a choice of gold panning with secluded water hole swimming or a day on the lake. (The package does not include transport from the airport or gratuities.)
