New (and Improved) Lodging Options in the Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel

Last updated 26th March 2018

As winter sets in, the Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel is warming up with new and major lodging updates, providing even more reasons to visit Southwest Florida.

Island Inn

The historic Island Inn, the oldest lodging on Sanibel Island, has undergone a major renovation this year. A 12-room property, built in 1961, is being transformed from the ground-up into 12 gulf-view luxury suites. Amenities will include large private-screened balconies, dining rooms, full kitchens with stainless steel appliances, high speed and reliable WiFi, smartphone docking stations, flat-screen TVs and more. The Inn has welcomed visitors since 1895, and the luxury suits are set to open January 2018. The property also manages multi-bedroom cottages for families to enjoy.

Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village

The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village in Cape Coral (near Fort Myers) plans to unveil its 30,000-square-foot conference center in January 2018. In addition, 30 two-bedroom suites are being converted into one-bedroom suites and traditional guest rooms. The pet-friendly hotel features a Westin Kids’ Club and a plethora of outdoor activities, including kayaking among the mangroves, where you may spot a manatee.

Luminary Hotel & Co.

Although further down the pike, the Luminary Hotel & Co., part of the Autograph Collection, is opening in late 2019 and something to look forward to. The new 237-room hotel will be along the waterfront of downtown Fort Myers and feature a signature restaurant, rooftop lounge, culinary theater, indoor and outdoor fitness facility, and spacious pool area on the fourth floor overlooking the Caloosahatchee River. The 12-story hotel will also be connected to the neighboring Harborside Event Center, adjacent to Centennial Park where a bandshell will also be constructed.
