If you can believe it, Harry Potter is turning 20 this year, and in celebration, a new exhibit will bring Harry Potter to New York City. The New-York Historical Society will showcase the special exhibit, “Harry Potter: A History of Magic.” Currently on display in London at the British Library, the exhibit will arrive in the Big Apple Oct. 5, 2018, remaining on display until Jan. 27, 2019.

The exhibit will feature never-before-seen items from J.K. Rowling, including original drafts of her books, illustrations from the series’ illustrators Mary GrandePré and Jim Kay, special collections of rare magic books from the British Library, and other rare magical objects that explore the history of magic, detailed in Scholastic’s Harry Potter: A Journey Through a History of Magic. As the exhibit debuts, Scholastic will unveil a new companion book to the exhibit, Harry Potter: A History of Magic, working in conjunction with the British Library to provide a beautiful coffee table book.

Tickets will go on sale to New-York Historical Society members Feb. 14, and to the general public in April. The exhibit remains on display in London through Feb. 28, 2018. Tickets will be $21 for adults, $13 for students, $6 for children ages 5 to 13, and free for children under 4.
