Don’t Miss This Family-Friendly Jazz Festival in New Orleans

Last updated 26th July 2019

Don’t miss out on a weekend of great music, yummy eats and family-friendly activities. It’s all going down in the lively city at the heart of Louisiana.

The 19th annual Satchmo SummerFest is happening August 2-4, 2019 at the New Orleans Jazz Museum at the Mint. Satchmo SummerFest celebrates the life, legacy and music of New Orleans’ legend, Louis Armstrong.

More than 30 acts are set to perform and will span genres ranging from traditional jazz to funk and R&B, so there’s something for everyone to get their groove on to.

Beyond lively jazz performances, you can also get a taste for classic New Orleans’ favorites. Highlights being served include pork belly and fish tacos by Gulf Tacos, Jambalaya from Rusty Pelican and classic favorites from restaurants like Big Cheezy, Café Dauphine, Company Burger, Plum Street Snoballs, Quintin’s Ice Cream.

There will also be plenty of family-friendly activities just for the kids to enjoy. The Pops’ Playhouse for Kids will have daily activities on August 3 and 4 from 11:30am – 4:30pm. Kids can participate in Zulu coconut decorating and making drums and other instruments from recycled materials. Nothing says celebration like a second line umbrella, so don’t miss out on making and decorating your very own at one of the stations.

Kids 12 and under can attend for free, while adults pay just $6, and some of the proceeds go directly to helping support local musicians in the community.

If you’re traveling from out of town, the Omni Royal Orleans is an official partner of the festival and is offering special discounts and offers.
