Symphony of the Seas Is Music to the Ears of Families

Royal Caribbean announced its newest ship, the Symphony of the Seas, in a press event led by Michael Bayley, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean International. The fourth Oasis-class ship that will sail the Caribbean from Miami’s newly designed Terminal A beginning in November is especially targeting families.

“Family is key and core to the Royal Caribbean market,” says Bayley. “Every detail for families has been designed to deliver the true family experience, which is not just about the kids but mom and dad, grandparents, and the kids.”

One of the highlights of the new ship is its one-of-a-kind Ultimate Family Suite. With two sleeping rooms, the suite can comfortably sleep eight people and features a zone specially designed to entertain kids, with a popcorn machine, 85-inch 3D TV, air hockey, LEGO wall, and even a Personal Genie, who can help make your dreams come true – or at least get you what you need, when you request it. There is only one Ultimate Family Suite, and it must be booked by calling Royal Caribbean.

Says Bayley, “We should put a guarantee on it – if your kids aren’t happy, we’ll give you your money back.”

More than 20 restaurants will be featured on the ship, with a new fresh seafood restaurant, Hooked, occupying the second floor of the totally new Solarium space. Also, a new additional to this Oasis ship is the sports bar and arcade on the Boardwalk. The length of the Boardwalk, the family-friendly Playmakers will feature 30 big-screen TVs and an arcade with modern video games with virtual realty as well as Old School games like Pac Man. For entertainment, the ship’s four theaters will provide a number of shows, including the return of “Hairspray,” which debuted on Oasis of the Sea and makes an all-new comeback on Symphony. An additional fun spot happens to be Bayley’s favorite: the world’s largest laser tag arena, occupying a converted Studio B with glow-in-the-dark action.

Symphony of the Seas is currently running 7-night Western Med cruises and will sail into Miami in November for Eastern Caribbean cruises.
