Camp Max: A Single Parent All-Inclusive Family Camp

Last updated 19th July 2022

Finding single parent vacation packages and opportunities is rare in the travel industry. Embrace your inner child while nurturing your own child at Camp Max, a family camp for single parents and their kids. The all-inclusive camp welcomes moms, dads and all other guardians with children ages 2-18 years old. Spend a weekend playing, bonding and growing, as you meet new families just like yours and remember what makes camp so special.

Founder Mary-jane April lives in New York City with her son, Max. As a former camper, camp counselor and program director, she has been running family camps for 17 years. Her mission is to provide a unique place for parents to bond with their children, while building a community of friendship and support with other single parents.

When families arrive at camp, Camp Max offers a schedule for the weekend. Every evening, you can sign up for the next day’s activities. During the day, there are six activity periods with parents and kids on separate schedules, except when they choose to do an activity together. The camp also sprinkles in blocks of free time and special offerings throughout the day.  In the evening, everyone comes together for group events such as game shows, campfires, scavenger hunts, dance parties and lawn games.

Some of the activities that parents and children can experience include swimming, kayaking, slip ‘n slide, paddle boarding, sailing, kickball, ultimate frisbee, relay races, ping-pong, zip lining, archery, hiking and wall-climbing, as well as an assortment of crafts and performing arts activities.
