When it comes to Christmas markets, South West Germany is hard to beat. Baroque and Medieval palaces provide enchanting backdrops to intricately decorated wooden stalls. There's no better way to get into the spirit of Christmas than spending a day with the family browsing the artisan gifts and locally-made toys, before relaxing with a cup of warm mulled wine and enjoying baked apples and tasty freshly baked gingerbread cookies.
Stuttgart Markets is one of the largest Christmas markets in Europe and also one of the oldest, dating back 300 years. Stuttgart Market is held from 23 November to 23 December 2016.
Families from all over the UK can get to Stuttgart easily and quickly, thanks to direct flights from London (Heathrow, Stansted and Gatwick), Manchester, Birmingham, Dublin and Edinburgh, with Eurowings, BA, Flybe, Ryanair and easyJet. With flights starting from as little as £28 return, there really is no excuse!
Stuttgart Airport invites a family of four to spend two days and one night in the Christmassy city of Stuttgart, including accommodation with breakfast at Hotel Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin (below) and flights.
