Peak Retreats are encouraging you to think big this season with their new range of multi-family ski holidays in the French Alps. We think you should take their advice.

If it’s your first time hearing about multi-family ski holidays, you are in the right place.
Peak Retreats couldn’t be more passionate about the concept of families taking ski holidays together, and not just from a professional point of view. Just about everyone on the team has tried and loves multi-family ski holidays, and quite a few of them are such converts they wouldn’t holiday any other way with their kids now.

What are multi-family ski holidays with Peak Retreats?
The idea is incredibly simple: another thing to like. Families travel together to the same destination in the French Alps, book accommodation with separate family apartments and share the entire holiday experience.
The benefits just go on and on, from extra childcare and your kids having built-in holiday friends to the fun of new ski partners or just being able to relax with people you know, and like, away from real life.
In a larger group it’s always easier to find someone who likes to do the same things, and it cuts down on the guilt if you occasionally don’t want to do anything at all. Like we said, shared childcare means you can actually fit some grown-up skiing into your ski holiday for a change, but also means babysitting is a possibility too, if you want a night out.
Plus, nothing makes better holiday memories than having new experiences with old friends, and you’re more likely to try things when you’ve got company. So if this is the year to give snow yoga a whirl or discover the magic of nighttime tobogganing or have a pampering day without kids or partners, a multi-family holiday could be the way to go.

Why multi-family ski holidays are magical for kids
Of course, there are lots of other selfish reasons to holiday this way, but kids come out of it really well too.
For a start, they don’t need to make new holiday friends, they’ve got them on tap, 24/7. The fun of skiing is multiplied when they’re with others they already know, you’ll probably find they learn faster and feel more confident as well.
Plus, you don’t have to be on constant entertainment duty, because nothing is more entertaining than other kids round about your kid’s age. In fact, prepare to feel a little bit abandoned from time to time, or just blissfully free to do your own thing for a change.

Now for the real inspiration! Peak Retreats’ recommended resorts in the French Alps
When all’s said and done, choosing the right resort will always be the most important decision on a multi-family ski holiday: no pressure!
Good news? There really is no pressure with Peak Retreats. Not only do you have the widest range of resorts in the French Alps to choose from, as seasoned multi-family experts, the team can personally recommend quite a few which they already know work perfectly for group holidays.

Nicola from Peak Retreats thought Sainte Foy was perfect for her group of young families
Sainte-Foy works the multi-family ski holiday magic in Tarentaise
Small with impressive neighbours, Sainte-Foy in Tarentaise is where the instructors from nearby Val d’Isère, Les Arces and Tignes go on their days off: the skiing is that good.
But for families it’s the laid-back, uncrowded atmosphere that’s the draw here, particularly because you can easily dip into livelier resorts.
That said, Sainte-Foy holds its own when it comes to activities, teens can even try back country skiing here and experiences to share run from aperitifs in an igloo to tobogganing, snow shoeing and dog sledding.

La Rosière, Tarentaise, French Alps
La Rosière is the resort for shared family adventures
La Rosière is another Tarentaise resort that families can’t say enough good things about. Serious skiers love it too, not least because it’s linked La Thuile in Italy and delivers 198km of international pistes.
South facing with a hard to match sunshine record, families rate the resort for its snow park and mountain coaster, climbing wall, traditional weekly market and indoor ice rink. And if you’ve never tried a moonlit snowshoe walk ending with dinner in an authentic Mongolian yurt, La Rosière is the place for memory makers like that too.

Val Cenis, French Alps @A Pernet
Val Cenis all round fun for toddlers to teenagers and parents too
The line-up of things to do in Val Cenis reads like every kid’s dream wish list, with everything on it from tubing and Snowscooting to night skiing and airboarding.
Beginners and intermediates have plenty to get excited about here too, thanks to 140km of marked pistes, tree lined slopes and good ski schools. Although, 27 red and black runs should make more advanced skiers feel cared for as well.

La Plagne, French Alps ©E Sirparanta
La Plagne has something for everyone in one of the world’s largest ski areas
If keeping everyone happy is your multi-family ski holiday priority, then La Plagne scores high on all points, right down to giving you several villages to choose from. You can even make your choice based on ‘prettiness’, as traditional architecture is a bit of La Plagne signature.
As far as skiing goes, it’s part of the Paradiski area, one of the world’s largest, which says it all. And off the mountain, it’s the only resort in France with a Skeleton Bobsleigh: tell teens this and the decision will be made for you.

Le Grand Bornand, French Alps
Le Grand Bornand is all Alpine charm and impressive skiing
Speaking of ‘prettiness’, few resorts in the French Alps (or anywhere) come close to the authentic Alpine charm of Le Grand Bornand in Savoie.
But don’t let those looks deceive you, this is a serious contender for dedicated skiers too, with 91km of mixed runs, a network of 31 lifts and both north and south facing slopes, as well as plenty of gorgeous scenery to glide through. It’s also another one that works hard to win kids over, and even has a dedicated Ice Garden for under 10s. Older kids will be interested to know about the Fat Bikes and Ski Bikes, night skiing and designated sledging areas.
Les Saisies, close to Mont Blanc, is also a good choice for multi-family ski holidays, as is Les Carroz or even Valmorel: another beautiful Tarentaise resort. Alternatively, there are dozens of other resorts to browse, and they’ve all been personally tested by Peak Retreats too.
