Universal Children’s Day
Sunday 20 November 2016 marks Universal Children’s Day. An initiative of United Nations and UNICEF, the day commemorates the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, which was designed to make sure all kids have a happy, safe and dignified childhood.
Grupo Iberostar is a family-owned, Spanish travel company that has hotels in Europe, Africa and the Americas, and is committed to social development. As such, Grupo Iberostar will be joining in the Universal Children’s Day celebrations.
Grupo Iberostar celebrates kids’ rights
Through its foundation, Fundación Iberostar, Grupo Iberostar has signed up to the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and is providing support for kids via a series of projects. On 20 November, the company is hosting a special day, during which parents and kids can celebrate this important day by playing and sharing together and exercising their right to be happy.
In Iberostar hotels, guests will be given access to information about the Declaration of the Rights of the Child and children will have fun getting stuck into kids’ only activities in and around the pools, playing with puppets, painting murals with the hotel’s mascots Starky and Stella and enjoying kids’ shows in the evening.
Fundación Iberostar is a not-for-profit organisation that was set up in 2004 and focuses on education, culture and social innovation. Therefore, childhood is at the heart of everything they do. Since it started, Fundación Iberostar has carried out 64 projects, which together has benefited 202,922 people.
