Last updated 9th June 2017

A treat for the kids

When it comes to planning a family holiday, top of the list is finding somewhere to stay that the kids will love as much you do. While a hotel may be visually stunning, if it doesn’t have the right amenities for your kids then it really isn’t worth it. The beautiful Grand Hotel de Bordeaux & Spa, located in the South-West region of France is launching a kid’s concierge.

Upon arrival, families will receive a very warm welcome, but better yet the kids will discover gifts in their rooms, from cuddly toys, to t-shirts for children over 10. The hotel have also extended some of their rooms to create spacious family suites, perfect for larger families. Every child will be equipped with slippers, dressing gowns and bath amenities, ensuring that they feel as special as they are.

You and your family can also enjoy a tailor made brunch, in the relaxed atmosphere of The Bordeaux brasserie, with high chairs for babies and a buffet at children’s height (genius right?). There’s even a dedicated children’s area, where they can play games, so parents can relax and enjoy their food.

Activities

Bordeaux is a special destination for a family holiday, you can relax knowing you’re not too far from home but you’ll also be at ease, because there’s no shortage of places and activities for kids.

Vineyard fun

Vineyards aren’t just for the adults – Chateau Bardins is a great pick and its only short drive from the hotel. The vineyard welcomes kids (from the age of seven) to take part in flavour and smell workshops with their parents. After that they’re free to explore the grounds while you learn the basics of wine tasting.  Price for the workshop is £30 (adult) and £15 (child).

Tourist train

Sometimes exploring a city by foot can get exhausting, especially for the kids so on those days opt for the tourist train. The Train leaves from the Allées de Tourny and runs throughout the day. You’ll enjoy the route as you pass through the city’s oldest districts and the kids will be in awe as they get up close to the famous sites. The price for the train is £5.

Invest in a Citypass

Not only does it give you free access to public transportation while you’re there but you also get free guided tours and free access to museums and exhibitions. It’s perfect to get more sights in without splashing out. A 3 day pass costs £27.
