Flipside Festival, Suffolk

Last updated 3rd January 2017

What’s new? If heading to Brazil for the World Cup next year is a pipe dream, why not get your Latin kick this autumn instead – at Snape Maltings in Suffolk. Exactly a decade after Brazil launched FLIP – its hugely successful answer to the UK’s Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts in the beautiful beachside colonial town of Paraty – FLIP brings its winning formula to the UK, launching FlipSide, which takes place on 4-6 October.

While it has the impressive line up of literary heavyweights you’d expect – think the likes of Ian McEwan and award-winning Brazilian novelist Milton Hatoum – the Brazilian festival is also famous for its child-friendliness. FlipSide will be no exception, bringing with it an entire kids’ side to the festival called FlipKids. Expect Capoeira classes, art, drama and book making workshops, musical theatre from the brilliant Wonderful Beast and more.
