Instead of diving for cover this autumn when the mercury drops, pack your bags and head to Florida’s Panama City Beach for soft white sand, turquoise coves and the 24th annual Lobster Festival.
From 19-22 September, foodies flock from far and wide for four days of live music, highly competitive sand-sculpting competitions and barbecues loaded with gigantic lobsters.
If lobsters aren’t your thing, perhaps pirates are. The Pirates of the High Seas Festival, from 11-12 October, sees plenty of swashbuckling action, buccaneer-themed parades and fireworks displays.
