If you’ve still not booked your family holiday this summer you might be starting to panic. Don’t. Here are some great holiday deals and late discounts departing during the school holidays in July and August, selected by William Gray, Editor of 101 Family Holidays.
Sardinia has some of the finest beaches in the Mediterranean. Head to the Grande Baia Resort in San Teodoro, which has a children’s club, spa and gym, and a choice of 18 nearby beaches. It’s only an hour from Olbia airport. A week in August in a family suite for two adults and two children costs from £517 per person including half board, midweek Easyjet flights from Gatwick and private airport transfers, with Expertoitaly.
The Maltese island of Gozo also has crystal-clear waters. Activities Abroad has knocked £100 per person off the cost of a multi-activity week based at a converted farmhouse. The price, £1,245 for adults and £1,145 for kids, includes boat trips, sea kayaking, climbing, abseiling, an afternoon at Ramla Bay Beach and a Mini B diving experience. Flights departing 14 or 28 July, transfers, tuition and some meals are also included.
Soak up the sunshine and fresh air in Austria’s Danube Valley on a week’s independent cycling holiday, staying in charming four-star hotels en route while your luggage is transported each day to your next destination. The price in July or August with Inntravelis now just £980 per adult and £760 per child (up to 14 years) and includes B&B accommodation, five dinners, cycle hire, route notes and maps. Flights are not included.
Enjoy a stay at the luxury 16th-century Chateau des Vigiers in the Dordogne with Powder Byrne. The property has two heated outdoor pools, a superb spa, 27 holes of golf, tennis courts and Michelin-starred restaurant. Arriving on 15 August you can get seven nights for the price of six: from £849 per person with breakfast. The company also runs its own creche and kids club (extra charge applies). If you get together up to 18 friends and family you can rent Week Farm, a spectacular Georgian manor house on the outskirts of Bath. It boasts a 12-seat hot tub, 98 acres of grounds and gardens to explore and a pub in the village that serves excellent food. Book with Helpful Holidays and save £500 on the weeks commencing 24 July, 14 August and 21 August, with a rental price of £5,100 for 7 nights.
You can fly to Jersey from more than 30 UK airports or take the daily high-speed ferry from Poole. The Merton Hotel, a family favourite, is offering a free upgrade to half board if you stay four nights or more between 18 July and 29 August. Rooms, some of which are interconnecting, cost from £103 to £163 per night in July and August, including breakfast and dinner. Quote ‘FREE2015’ when booking.
For something more exotic, head to the gorgeous Malaysian island of Langkawi where Turquoise Holidays has a saving of £2,440 for a family of four staying for a week at the luxurious Four Seasons Resort, departing any date from 15 August. The reduced price of £4,425 for a family of four includes flights, private transfers and half board.
Beachcomber Tours is cutting £680 off the price of a family stay at the Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa in Mauritius. Seven nights departing 12 August costs £1,426 per person based on two adults and two children under 12 sharing a Junior Suite, including half board, flights, private transfers and free golf on the Paradis Golf Course.
TransIndus has a family adventure holiday in Thailand, combining Bangkok, the beach at Khao Lak and a stay in a luxury jungle lodge close to an elephant camp. Prices in July and August start at £1,450 per person (saving a total of £900) including flights, 11 nights accommodation with breakfast, transfers, English speaking guides and entry fees.
Finally, The Experience Travel Group has a two-week Family Special in Vietnam, staying in four-star and five-star hotels and including a junk boat cruise in Halong Bay. Save £1,000 per family during the school holidays when prices start at £2,667 per adult, £2,444 for the first child and £1,440 for the second child, including flights, accommodation with breakfast and exclusive family experiences.
