Discover Disney’s Maleficent’s Magic Forest

Last updated 3rd January 2017

At the moment, everybody is talking about the new Disney movie Maleficent, a live action feature film starring Angelina Jolie as Disney’s most popular villain ever and Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora.

Did you know, that the film has been partially shot here in the UK? To recreate the dark moors and enchanted forest, which is home to Disney’s scariest creature, the production company chose two National Trust locations.

Petworth Park in West Sussex provided the perfect spooky forest set up, with its 600 acres of grassland, ancient trees and rolling hills, while the Ashridge Estate in Hertfordshire with its 5,000 acres of beech and oak woodland, offered more than enough room for Maleficent to practice some of her dark magic.

Families can see ancient trees, rare plants, butterflies, birds and mammals on a special Maleficent-themed trail this summer.

Info: The Enchanted Forest Trail at Ashridge is available every day until 31 August. Visit: The National Trust

Price: £1 per child. All proceeds are going straight back into protecting and opening up this enchanted place.
