Child Safety Week

Last updated 3rd January 2017

According to the AA, around 5,000 children under the age of 16 die or are seriously injured on Britain’s roads each year. This week marks Child Safety Week in the UK and the aim is to help highlight the huge importance of car seat safety.

The figures are shocking, which is why award-winning car seat brand Diono asked 2000 parents about their family and car seat safety, to set the misconceptions about car safety straight.

Did you know that legally a child needs to be in a car seat/booster until they are 12 years old (135cm tall)? Diono’s survey shows that a whopping 70% of UK parents don’t know the legal age and height requirements.

However, their research reveals that parents of 4-8 year olds do put car seat safety first, with the majority saying that side impact protection is the most important aspect when it comes to picking the seat.

To continue raising awareness, Diono are hosting free car seat clinics. Everyone is welcome to turn up and hear advice from independent experts about correct installation and how to go about picking the right seat for both your car and child.

The next two events run from 9:30am-3pm:

5th June – Greater Manchester, Altrincham retail park, outside Mothercare

26th June – Newcastle, Team Valley Retail Park, outside Halfords
