Doctor Who Experience Cardiff: family day out

Last updated 9th June 2017

Nestled against Cardiff Bay is the Doctor Who Experience, the perfect place to celebrate The Doctor, his companions and all their adventures. Only a few minutes away from the BBC studios and other filming locations of Doctor Who, visitors young and old will be delighted before they even step inside the building that has been constructed especially for this beloved family show.

What’s on

The Doctor Who Experience is divided into two parts; an adventure with the doctor and his TARDIS, and the exhibition hall featuring set pieces, props and costumes from over 50 years of space and time adventure.

When guests first arrive a guide leads a small group into the Gallifrey museum to learn more about Time Lords, when a crisis arises (as it usually does when The Doctor is involved) and guests are thrown into a real-life adventure, through the heart of the TARDIS and beyond. The exhibition hall is next and full of treasures from all of The Doctors through the years. Visitors can see the evolution of The Doctor, his companions and his enemies like the Daleks, Weeping Angels, and Cybermen.

The Doctor Who Experience is perfect for generational families to enjoy on one of their summer days out. Grandparents and parents can see props from the original series while kids can see costumes and sets from the newest season of the show.

Opening Summer 2015

This summer the Doctor Who experience will be expanding to offer walking tours around Cardiff where the show is filmed. Cardiff has doubled as places like New York, Victorian London and even alien planets. The tour includes over 40 filming locations with an expert guide along with a ticket into the Doctor Who Experience. Tickets are available from Wednesday 8 July and the tours run 18 July – 30 August, Wednesday–Sunday.
