Marwell Hotel, Hampshire

Why go?

Located in the heart of Hampshire with easy access to the historic Winchester (great for shopping) and the delights of nature in the New Forest, Marwell Hotel is a fun, family-friendly hotel perfect for a weekend break in the UK.

Who is it good for? Children aged from three, and parents alike, will love the nearby Marwell Wildlife. The hotel also caters for kids from an early age with special menus and an on-site swimming pool. It also provides cots for little ones, and has family rooms that can fit up to two adults and two children under 12 years.

Making the most of its beautiful surroundings, the hotel’s corridors have glass walls so you can look out on the woodland, giving it a relaxing and calming feel. Bedrooms are spacious, bright and decorated in a natural theme, taking inspiration from its countryside location.

Marwell Wildlife zoo: Just a two-minute drive or eight-minute walk from the hotel, so easily accessible for families wanting a stress-free day out or early start. Here you’ll see giraffe, rhino, lions and meerkats, which will delight children of all ages.

You can also teach your family about animals from around the world with the Australian Bush Walk, where you’ll walk beside the country’s most popular animal, the wallaby – a fun photo opportunity.

You can also learn about the park’s conservation work at the Into Africa section: children will be fascinated by Colobus monkeys, buffalo and giraffe.

Back at the hotel: The pool is great for all aged children (a member of the Family Traveller family splashed around here with their baby of six months), and has a great Jacuzzi for parents to relax in.

The hotel is surrounded by beautiful woodland, which older children will love exploring and which also has its own adventure playground.

Food: The hotel has an extensive children’s menu for dinner and a modern-European menu for parents where round-the-world dishes are applied to locally-sourced produce in The Dining Room. There’s also The Lounge & Bar, which is open all day for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as serving hot drinks in-between.
