Festival-going families are in for a treat this summer. Nile Rodgers & Chic, Annie Mac, Jess Glynne and The Human League have just been announced as this year’s headliner acts at the much-loved family-friendly Camp Bestival. Sister Sledge, The Wailers, Big Shaq, Sara Cox and Goldie will also be gracing the stage.

Other musical legends on the spectacular line-up include Ash, David Rodigan, Greg Wilson, Rak-Su, Rick Witter & Paul Banks (Shed Seven Acoustic). For a bit of 90s action, nostalgic mums and dads can groove on down to Morcheeba, East 17 and Utah Saints. Melanie C of Spice Girls fame will even take over the turntables with a 90s mixtape. This eclectic mix of smash hit legends is just as enticing for the little ones in your lives. Max & Harvey (of YouTube fame) will provide fun and frolics, as will Mr Tumble, Mister Maker & The Shapes and Sam & Mark from CBBC. Little ravers (of all ages) will love bopping along to Big Fish Little Fish family raves.

It’s not all music at Camp Bestival. Oh no! You can expect an array of bonkers and brilliant classes, workshops and activities throughout this weekend. Aardman Animations will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Wallace and Gromit with some model making workshops, plus you’ll find the world’s biggest bouncy castle to boing and bounce on, a slime tent, science tent and silent disco.

Camp Bestival curator Rob da Bank says: ‘We’re really proud to unveil two of the world’s biggest party starters in their own fields – Nile and Chic go back a long way with us and they’re going to have everyone dancing at Lulworth Castle. BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac is one of the UK’s best DJs, tastemakers and a mama to boot so we know she’s going to press all the right buttons. This year we’ve got some whacking great headliners and loads of amazing family activities, we will be prioritising our teens to keep ‘em happy with a new screen-free area avoiding technology – The Wild Tribe. See you in the fields!’

For some cerebral action, head to the Literary Institute for thought-provoking talks and shows or the teen-led Sonic Youth Club and Teen Debating Programme. There will be plenty of new stuff aimed at teens this year too. ‘The Wild Tribe’ is a new tech-free zone, powered only by solar and alternative technology, where kids can get up to wholesome back-to-nature activities like drumming workshops, bushcraft, mud slides and wild play.

Scrumptious food and drink is standard at Camp Bestival.  As well as award-winning street food, there will be the bonkers DJ BBQ’s World of Meats and Beats, Avant Garde Vegan, Rob n’ Josie’s Gin Festival and the Women’s Institute Tea Tent. To work off the festi-fare, take your pick from Camp Besti Triathlon, Superhero Sports Day or a Jurassic hike. Or, just spend all weekend bopping to the stellar musical line-up instead.
