Butlin’s Minehead Lakeview Chalets review

Last updated 8th June 2017

The leading name in UK family holiday camps, Butlin’s, provides holidaymakers with simple, fun and an inexpensive experience – one of the many reasons their success has been constant, despite the ongoing shift within the family holiday market. Now change is in the air and they’re offering more luxurious chalets in their resorts.

The chalets are brand new to Butlin’s Minehead and are set across the beautiful serene West Lakes Village. And they excedded my expectations – our chalet had two spacious bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a kitchen/living room and a beautiful terrace overlooking a lake.

The rooms were vibrant, well–furnished and adjoined (for peace of mind). Location-wise, it was great, just within walking distance of the main camp. This is mostly as I suspect it has always been – a water park, funfair area, an indoor big top gaming and general entertainment area (with lots of participation, so be warned) and a number of bars and restaurants.

Dining options are slightly limited. The main resort primarily consists of fast food chains, however they offer a new premium dining plan, allowing for healthier meals throughout some of the buffet style restaurants. If you want to get the dining plan, it comes at a hefty price, almost £74 a day for a family of four with older kids.

If you fancy embracing the Butlin’s experience, then the chalets are a great base to escape for a couple of days but still not far enough to be without your creature comforts.
