Downtown is where to get up close to Dubai’s instantly recognisable skyline. Burj Khalifa is just one of the many remarkable contemporary buildings here. But you might be surprised to find almost as many pretty parks, ethereal fountains, and waterways, as soaring towers. It’s one of the best districts for international restaurants, and must-see sights like Dubai Aquarium, and Dubai Mall.
At 828 metres high, Burj Khalifa is currently the tallest tower in the world. It soars above the city and the views from the upper-level observation deck are awe-inspiring.
Enchanting Dubai Fountain is also in Downtown and performs spectacularly every 30 minutes in the evening. If you want to see the show without the crowds, several nearby restaurants have outstanding views of the famous dancing waters.
Dubai Mall dominates Downtown’s eastern side. It’s the largest shopping complex on earth and, apart from hundreds of stores, it’s also home to Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Kidzania, Sega Republic, and Dubai Ice Rink.
