Once known mostly for its honeymoon appeal, the Maldives is quietly becoming a hit with families, and Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives is leading the charge.

Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives has launched a new space for teens
The luxury island resort has officially launched a new space dedicated to teens aged 12 to 17, complete with hangout zones, creative workshops and eco-conscious design that reflects the future of family travel.
Inside the Teens Hut at Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll Maldives
Purpose-built for older kids, the new Teens Hut at Seaside Finolhu Baa Atoll is a two-storey structure, designed by KulörGroup and Muza Lab.
It’s shaped like a giant seashell and built using bamboo. A choice that sends a strong sustainability message, while also fitting beautifully into the island landscape.
The space features everything a modern teen could want on holiday: games consoles, a mocktail bar for mixology classes, a movie lounge, and an outdoor recreational area.
Upstairs, there’s a music studio with instruments, a stage, karaoke gear and DJ equipment: designed with silent disco-style headphones so teens can play without disrupting the peace of the island.
A hut full of activities to get teens learning, moving and connecting with nature
The launch of the Teens Hut also brings a new line-up of specially curated activities designed to get teens learning, moving and connecting with the natural world.
Bookable sessions include windsurfing, catamaran sailing, snorkelling with marine biologist Ivanna Tobar, pottery classes and local cooking workshops.
There are also weekly open events like games nights, beach bonfires, movie screenings, karaoke, dinners and casual hangouts. All part of a flexible, teen-focused schedule that doesn’t feel like a “kids club”, and instead gives young travellers a sense of independence and fun.

Eco-friendly architecture that’s designed to inspire teenagers
The design of the Teens Hut isn’t just about looks. The architecture was built around a philosophy of sustainability. Using natural materials like bamboo and wood shingles, the structure shows young guests how beautiful, modern spaces can still leave a light footprint.
KulörGroup described it as, “a statement about the future of architecture”: an idea that ties into Finolhu’s wider focus on immersive, meaningful experiences.
