How to: cruise the Scottish Islands

Arrow Discover more

St Hilda, Treshnish Islands

Climb aboard their beautiful ex-tall ship – the traditional, wooden ketch St Hilda, or their powerful, little cruise ship, Seahorse II. Both are ideal for those special family holidays. Discover a unique way to experience Scotland as you set sail through the stunning Islands and Highlands of the majestic West Coast of Scotland.

There are a great range of activities to be had both ashore and afloat. On St Hilda you can haul up the sails and learn basic seamanship. In quiet, secluded anchorages you can shoot lobster pots, fish for the evening meal, snorkel, swim and dive overboard. There are kayaks and paddleboards for exploring sea caves or just paddling around. On some cruises there are wildlife, art and photographic specialist tutors aboard.

Ashore there are great hikes into the mountains and along the seashore and visits to ancient Scottish castles and breeding seabird colonies – especially the iconic puffins and sea eagles. The West Coast is rich in wildlife and families never forget their sightings of rafts of seabirds, golden and sea eagles, puffins, otters, seals, porpoises, basking sharks, orcas and minke whales.

For a memorable way to enjoy that extra special holiday or celebrate those very special events such as birthdays and anniversaries, both ships can be privately chartered.

Throughout your voyage you will be served delicious, local food by your dedicated chef and looked after by your knowledgeable crew.
