We all love getting that perfect holiday snap that encapsulates the spirit of our trip, to be able to look back on for #memories. Social media is a huge part of our everyday lives and how it’s even influencing the way we holiday and enjoy short breaks, with new research by boutique aparthotel group Roomzzz has suggested that “parents are choosing holiday and short break destinations based on how good they will look on their social media feeds”. 

City breaks are incredibly popular for a family trip away, plus look phenomenal on Insta. Here are the ten 10 most Instagrammable city breaks. How many have you been to? 

10. Milan

Coming in at #10 most Instagrammable city break is Milan, with its iconic architecture, bustling streets and old school Italian charm. Make sure you head to the Piazza del Duomo, Sforza Castle, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II (the most delightful shopping experience!) and the beautiful lush, green Parco Sempione.

9. Rome

Another Italian entry into the most picture-perfect cities, Rome is stunning from every single angle and it’s a popular destination for families. History lovers need to swing by the incredible Colosseum, Pantheon and Roman Forum, whilst simply taking a stroll around the cobbled streets of this historic city and tasting some local gelato is idyllic in itself.

8. Amsterdam

Amsterdam is an incredible city, with quirky architecture and colourful landscapes. Cycle along the canal to feel like a local, stop off to sample some produce at the market or take a picnic to the vast and vibrant Vondelpark.

7. Madrid

Get stuck into the Spanish capital’s culture and history with one of the amazing museums and by indulging in a little local tapas and churros (and wine if you can sneak a glass or two!). This stunning little city is often overlooked as a family destination but teens and older kids will love it.

5. Moscow

Perhaps not the obviously choice for a family city break, but this Russian capital city is incredibly picturesque and packed full of incredible architecture and fascinating history including the Red Square, home to the famous Kremlin and St Basil’s Cathedral.

4. Barcelona

Ah Barcelona. Beloved by families across the world, this beautiful city is colourful, creative and full of character. You need to visit Gaudi’s masterpieces such as Park Güell and the impressive Sagrada Familia, and take a walk down La Rambla.

3. Istanbul

Anyone who has been to Istanbul will tell you how visually impressive the city is. Whilst you’re there, get snap-happy at the many historical sites and make your followers jealous with a beautiful photo of the Hagia Sophia or Sultan Ahmed Mosque (also known as the Blue Mosque).
