You might want to sit down for this one: LEGOLAND® Billund is 50 years old this June. That’s right, way back in 1968 the very first LEGOLAND opened its gates, proved the world’s favourite building brick could do construction on a grand scale, and gave families yet another excuse for a holiday in Denmark.
Come celebrate this summer. LEGOLAND® Billund Resort is looking better than ever, has a brand new rollercoaster for 2018, and plans to mark its birthday with heaps of typically colourful and creative festivities. Plus, Billund is in the heart of beautiful Jutland, land of the Wadden Sea, amazing beaches, historic cities, and endless family adventures.
Do you need more temptation? Just in case you do, here are Visit Denmark’s top 12 reasons for a family holiday in Jutland this summer: starting with the fresh-faced, 50 year old LEGOLAND® Billund Resort, where else?
LEGOLAND® Billund intends to mark its 50th birthday between 26 and 30 June with a world record breaking attempt to build the highest LEGO tower ever (36 metres and counting). But if you miss that event, there are plenty of other opportunities to celebrate right up until the end of December 2018.
Although, you might say the festivities started a bit early, since the entire park underwent an extensive upgrade in 2017, so there’s new and exciting stuff to see and do all over, any time you like.
The wild west wonderland of LEGOREDO now has the awesome Flying Eagle Rollercoaster to zip kids through its Rocky Mountain-style landscape. Recently opened NINJAGO World puts family Ninja skills to the test in over 5100m² of daring space constructed out of no less than 1.5 tonnes of LEGO bricks. And if that’s not enough adventure, there are Ferrari Days, Western Nights and sky-loads of fireworks to look forward to, as well as a Festive Birthday Concert on the big day itself: 2 June 2018.
