Why go? Designed to look like a traditional Cypriot village, set against a lush backdrop, with stunning sea views, Anassa is the place to stay. The luxurious residences are ideal for families and the Explorers Club (from €50 a day, including nappies, drinks, snacks and two meals) will keep kids of all ages entertained.

Facilities: Children’s menus and early sittings are available and babysitting can be booked. The Baby Go Lightly facility allows guests to pre-order holiday baby supplies – from car seats to nappies.

Price: €5,187 for a family of four (seven nights, interconnecting rooms on B&B basis).

2/10 The Columbia Resort, Pissouri

Why go? This all-suite resort, set in the quiet town of Pissouri, accommodates families of all sizes.

Facilities: There’s a children’s pool and free kids’ club (3-12 years), with activities including crafts, cookery and Greek dancing. Watersports and bikes are also available for older kids. Traditional restaurant Apollo serves mezze and fresh seafood, but there’s also a children’s menu with all the usual faves, and staff are more than happy to alter dishes.

Price: From €352 a night for a family suite, half board. Children under two stay free and discounts are available for older children and interconnecting rooms.

 

Aphrodite Hills hotel

Why go? The focus at Aphrodite Hills is about catering for the whole family and while it is famous for its 18-hole championship golf course and its stunning spa, young visitors are a top priority too.

Facilities: The Pirate Village Kid’s Club (3-12 years) has an adventure playground, children’s pool (with water slide) and supervised activities, and a crèche for babies from six months. For a home-from-home, book a luxurious villa with kitchen and pool.

4/10 Le Meridien, Limassol

Why go? This hotel has all the facilities you would expect from Le Meridien, including a lovely spa. Family rooms, bungalows and suites, are available and under-16s sharing with their parents stay free.

Facilities: Cots, buggies and bottle warmers can all be provided. The hotel even has its own children’s restaurant, Mickey’s, with mini tables and chairs and healthy dishes. Under fours also eat free on the daily buffet menu. The Penguin Club (3-12 years) is free and there’s a kids’ pool with waterslide.

Price: Family rooms for two adults and two children (under 15) start from €411 per room, per night.

 

Almyra

5/10 Almyra, Paphos

Why go? Younger sister to the Anassa and set in the tourist hotspot of Paphos, the Almyra has a boutique-feel with contemporary finishes and modern interiors.

Facilities: It has four pools, including one for families (with shaded awnings), as well as tennis courts and a gym. There is a range of room types for families, but if you want to splash out choose a Kyma Suite – they’re on the seafront, with a private terrace (perfect during nap time). There’s the same Explorers and Baby Go Lightly facilities, children’s meals and babysitting services as the Anassa.

Price: €2,100 for a family of four (seven nights, interconnecting rooms on B&B basis).

6/10 Elysium, Paphos

Why go? Inspired by its setting close to the Tombs of the Kings, the Elysium is designed to look like a medieval fortress complete with its own moat.

Facilities: The hotel has a range of accommodation options, including traditional-style Cyprian maisonettes and interconnecting rooms, a free kids’ club (3-12 years), a shaded children’s pool with waterslide and play area. Children’s theatre evenings give parents an chance to enjoy a romantic dinner, and you can pre-book essentials such as buggies, baby baths, food, nappies and bottle-warmers.

Why go? Lively Ayia Napa has long been a clubbers paradise, but it’s also home to beautiful beaches, making it the perfect choice for families too.

Facilities: At the Olympic Lagoon Resort you’ll find a choice of seven swimming pools and five restaurants (including an American-style diner). In addition to a kids’ club (3-12 years) there’s also a nursery room for babies from six months. Teens will love the arcade and supervised ‘Cool Club’ complete with Teenz Bar serving non-alcoholic cocktails.

Why go? Larnaca is another popular tourist hot spot, with the added bonus of being close to the airport. There are lots of shops and restaurants close by and it’s just 30 minutes away from the capital, Nicosia.

Facilities: Set in a private garden, with direct access to the beach, the recently-renovated Lordos provides a range of room and restaurant options for families. The kids’ club, (up to 12) arranges indoor and outdoor activities, as well as special events such as treasure hunts and movie nights. Children also have their own play area and pool with water slide.?
