Why a Disney Resort hotel stay maximises the magic on 2026 holidays
One decision you will never regret is choosing to stay at a Disney Resort hotel. Even from a purely practical point of view, staying close to all the Theme Parks, with all-day complimentary transport included in your stay, let’s you make the most of every sparkling bit of fun.
There are more than 25 options on offer, ranging from Deluxe Resort Hotels to Moderate and Value Resort Hotels. And yes, every one of them truly immerses you in the magic, but that’s far from the only benefit of booking a Disney Resort hotel.

Extra time to play! Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park © 2025 Disney
Enjoy exclusive extra Theme Park time every day of your stay
Start with getting 30 minutes of early entry to the Theme Parks of your choice, every morning of your stay. Plus, when you book a Disney Deluxe or Disney Deluxe Villa Resort hotel, you also enjoy longer evening hours at Theme Parks on selected nights too.
No surprise that kids love the idea of more Theme Park time. It’s amazing how many thrills you can pack into an extra 30 minutes, like early twirls on the Mad Tea Party at Magic Kingdom Park or a first thing sail on the musical Frozen Ever After ride at EPCOT. More minutes at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park could mean an early start on sensational Expedition Everest. And if you’re up for Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Slinky Dog Dash is the perfect ride to wake you all up in the morning!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge: wake up to wildlife
It’s almost tempting not to tell kids too much about Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge before you arrive, just to see their faces when they hear the sound of wildlife and realise that over 200 animals and birds are roaming free in the savannas around the resort.
But if you can’t resist building that pre-holiday excitement, let them know they can safari from Savanna View Rooms: just pick up the Wildlife Field Guide and look out the window.
You could also mention the hotel’s enormous pools that come with fun stuff like waterslides, squirting Venus flytraps, rope bridges and water cannons. Then there’s the Jambo House Campfire to cosy round after dark, roast marshmallows and totally immerse in the Lodge’s heart of Africa vibe. Or you can even watch your favourite Disney films in the fresh evening air by the Uzima Springs Pool with Movies Under the Stars.
Wild about trying new tastes on holiday? Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge takes adventurous tastebuds on a sensational journey from your first sip of rich Kenyan coffee in the morning. Boma serves buffet breakfast and dinner, thrills you with subtle, fragrant African dishes and delights little diners with everything from French toast to made-to-order omelettes.
Then travel to East Africa at Sanaa or make a reservation at Jiko-The Cooking Place and cover the entire African continent, with stops in Asia and Europe on-route. With four restaurants and four bars to choose from, you’ll find your own favourite, or your kids will.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside: real southern charm on the Sassagoula River
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside oozes authentic Louisiana charm from the grand, porticoed mansions of Magnolia Bend to the backwoods cottages on Alligator Bayou. There’s no doubt that being set on a slow moving river against a backdrop of stately trees adds to the atmosphere, so we’ve a feeling this will be the Disney Resort hotel that wins the hearts of design-conscious teenagers the most.
That said, expect younger kids to be totally smitten by the Royal Guest Rooms. They’re inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog movie, which also inspired new Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction at Magic Kingdom Park. And with all that inspiration in the mix, it’s not much of surprise that the rooms are firm favourites with aspiring princesses and princes.
Disney Resort hotels’ storytelling tradition is in full-flight all over Disney’s Port Orleans Resort, and children will be thrilled to wade into the world of Tom Sawyer via a three-acre-plus hideaway which features a swimmin’ hole and sawmill slide, as well as a catch-and-release fishing hole, and cosy campfire in the evening.
Although nothing is more authentically Louisiana than soul food, and you’ll find that at the family-style Riverside Mill Food Court. Alternatively, take a stroll along the Sassagoula River to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, and try Southern classics like gumbo, jambalaya and beignets.

Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa © 2025 Disney
Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa: vintage elegance on Lake Buena Vista
The exclusive 19th century spa resort of Saratoga Springs was famous for naturally carbonated thermal waters, horse racing and luxurious hotels. It’s also the inspiration for Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, on the shores of beautiful Lake Buena Vista.
A range of one, two and three bedroom Villas here, along with elegant Deluxe Studios and even a quirky Treehouse Villa, makes this the ideal Disney Resort hotel for larger families.
Apart from the appeal of their own home-away-from-home, kids will also love the pool area. Not only does it feature The Paddock Pool with its enormous 146-foot long waterslide, it also has a High Rock Spring Pool with waterfalls and a waterslide tucked into rocks. Littler water babies have the fun of swimming through geysers at the Donald Duck play area.
You’ll find more grown up fun at the Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa health club, or on the gleaming greens of Disney’s Lake Buena Vista Golf Course, nearby. Plus, the resort offers complimentary water taxis for a smooth ride to Disney Springs, a waterside dining, shopping and entertainment destination at Walt Disney World Resort
Then, once you’ve worked up an appetite, take your pick from three resort restaurants, including The Turf Club Bar and Grill which echoes vintage horse-racing clubs in a nod to New York’s historic Saratoga Springs. Although kids might prefer The Paddock Grill for its poolside chill.
