This small-scale, community festival has four stages and a dedicated children’s area with circus skills, crafts and workshops, making it manageable for first-time festival families.

In It Together Festival, Margam, South Wales

Wychwood Festival, Cheltenham
Three stages and seven workshop/activity areas are spread around the site, and the flat racecourse site is easy to navigate with younger children. This year’s acts include the Kaiser Chiefs and Sophie Ellis-Bextor.

Dogstival, New Forest
A relaxed, daytime festival built around dogs rather than late nights. Children can watch and join in with activity zones while dogs take centre stage, from agility and flyball to scent work and splash pools. The layout is easy to navigate, there’s plenty to do without rigid schedules, and the emphasis stays firmly on outdoor fun.

Best age: 6–16 (younger children welcome with supervision).

Isle of Wight Festival
With dedicated family camping, clean facilities and wide open spaces, combined with beaches and ferry access, you can turn the weekend into a short family holiday. Lewis Capaldi, Calvin Harris and the Cure are this year’s headliners.

Expect live music across a range of stages (often with big names alongside fun sing-alongs), full-on kids’ entertainment in The Lower and Upper Kids’ Gardens with circus shows, puppet theatre, science tents and soft play, plus woodland adventure and bushcraft in Dingly Dell. There’s creative fun in Art Town and Tinkertown, world music and dance at the Bollywood stage, screen-free play in Wild Tribe and a chance to try wellbeing sessions in the Slomo area.
