Play with fairies in the woods, dance in discos and try all sorts of weird and wonderful activities. Namrata Bhawnani introduces 2016’s best UK family festivals

1/13. Don’t Wake the Fish

Why Go?

Head to the gorgeous countryside for a laidback weekend of music, arts, food and real ales at The Gurnard’s Head in stunning Cornwall. As you listen to some of West Country’s best bands, there’s liquid fortification at hand – chilled Cornish cider and real ales at the Beer Tent are just divine for sun-kissed, languorous days. At the Little Urchins Tent, the Cornwall Wildlife Trust will inspire a love for wildlife in West Cornwall, while The Story Republic will entertain children with song and poetry. Kids can soak in the chilled out vibe with a spot of yoga and there’s even a soft play area for toddlers.

The festival originated to celebrate Cornish brewing, and the magnificent brews certainly help appreciate the vista of the Atlantic Ocean and the location just 500 yards from the cliffs on the West Penwith moorland.
