The Rosebery, London’s self-catering apartments

Last updated 24th July 2022

Why go?

Supercity Aparthotels is a range of self-catering apartments in London, offering families a base for exploring the big city. It’s a home away from home, with a coat cupboard as you walk in, a family-essential hoover in the cupboard in case of small-child slip ups, as well as big fitted wardrobes in the bedrooms, a big bath in the bathroom (perfect for families with small children), and a kitchen supplied with all the essentials for cooking as well as the all-important coffee machine.

Staying at the Rosebery in Islington, you’ll have enough peace and quiet away form the bustling parts of the city such as the West End, but be close enough to the action – the kids will love jumping on the bus outside and heading into town while looking out of the window at all the pretty city sites.

The kids will also be amazed at the cool blowfish in reception, a great distraction while you’re checking in and out of your apartment.

Things to do

Sadler’s Wells

If you’re a family of theatre and ballet fans – or mother and daughter want some bonding time -, then this is the perfect place to base yourselves. Organise your stay around one of the fabulous Royal Ballet performances at Sadler’s Wells either in the afternoon or on an evening, and you’re just a short five minute walk from your apartment.

Culture

If it’s site seeing you’re after, head to St Paul’s cathedral where you can tour the grand building and learn about its history.

If museums are for you, nearby is The British Museum and Tate Modern – older children will appreciate these places much more, but there are many fun and interactive activities for the kids to take part in too.

Covent Garden

Hop on a bus from just down the road and within 15 minutes you’ll be in Covent Garden. It’s quite busy and full of tourists at the weekend, but the entertainment in the main square will entertain smaller children and the boutique shops, high street stores and little stalls will keep older children happy.

Dine

A perfect pre- or post-theatre place to eat is the Italian, La Porchetta, (84-86 Rosebery Ave, London, Clerkenwell EC1R 4QY). It serves great Italian food, quickly, responds to fussy requests (small children and fussy eaters welcome), and isn’t your typical pre-theatre eatery. It’s fun, has a lively atmosphere and the food is fab!

There’s also a huge range of places to eat here, including paella in the square where you can watch opera singers perform; the Battersea Pie shop; and if you like burgers, grab a Shake Shack from the market square – they’re famously good. There’s also Five Guys down the road towards Leicester Square, where regulars queue every day for this meaty delight.

If you want a sit down meal here, try the fabulously whacky pizzas at Fire & Stone or the fun Mexican place of Cafe Pacifico on Langley Street – you’ll also be able to spot the famous Pineapple Dance Studios here too.

Never fear though, fussy eaters still have the choice of Pizza Express, Zizzi, Cafe Rouge, and all the other well-known chains that will more than welcome families and big groups.
