Last updated 17th July 2022

Why go?

As the kids get older keep them interested in your family holidays with a little bit of adventure. But all that organisation can be a little overwhelming, which is why we rate holiday company Black Tomato who will put together tailor-made trips pretty much anywhere in the world. So if you want something a little different this Christmas, how about an eight-night family adventure in Texas?

Activities

The trip starts in Dallas where there is rich culture, cool festivals and amusement parks, and plenty of delicious cuisine to keep you parents happy. There you’ll stay at the quirky Hotel ZaZa in a luxury suite.

Visit Mckinney Street where some of the city’s best restaurants are located. A popular favourite is Fearings and their rib eye steak – teens will love the Texas mop sauce.

On the second day, guests will visit the John F. Kennedy Sixth Floor Museum, giving an insight into John F. Kennedy’s life and death by browsing through documents and artifacts around his assassination. You’ll then enjoy an aerial view over the city from Nylo Hotel’s rooftop bar.

Next on the itinerary is a Texan roadtrip. Visitors will drive to Austin and check in at the luxury W Hotel for three nights before heading to a ranch retreat and stay at the Wildcatter Ranch and Resort for two nights. Families will wnjoy the horse back riding and sport clay shooting to get well-and-truely into Texan culture.
