A new year means a whole new world of travel and at the heart of a great family holiday is finding the right accommodation. Whether you are looking for a city break, summer vacation or just a weekend away, we’ve narrowed down the best ten new family hotels opening in 2016 to complete any family holiday.

1. Hard Rock Hotel, Tenerife

Want to rock ‘n’ roll this summer? You’re in luck. Following in the success of its European debut with Hard Rock Ibiza, Hard Rock International have announced plans for Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife, set to open in autumn 2016. Sunshine 300 days a year, crystal blue sea and incredible sights, the biggest of the Canary Islands is the ultimate destination for fans of this popular brand.

The resort will be on Tenerife’s southern coast near Adeje and will host 624 rooms, including 236 suites. Known for welcoming families with open arms, Hard Rock Tenerife won’t disappoint as a family hotel, which will have three pools, a saltwater lagoon, four restaurants and entertainment venues. Teens and adults alike will love the chance to try their hand as a rock star with in-room guitar sessions and streaming playlist. And if you want to keep the kids entertained for a few hours while you enjoy the Rock Spa they’ll love the kids club accommodating children as young as six months to 17 year olds. 2. Park Hyatt, Mallorca

Overlooking the picturesque Canyamel Valley, Park Hyatt Mallorca will resemble a traditional Mallorcan hilltop village when it opens this spring, complete with a convivial village square, world-class dining and a suburb spa. Families will love the children’s pool and a day centre for younger kids.The nearby Beach Club and Country Club will also have children’s facilities along with a football pitch and tennis court. Families can also enjoy a alpine walking and horseback riding as well as off-road cycling.

This family hotel will boast four restaurants, ranging from tapas to pan-Asian cooking – something for all palettes. Rooms and suites will be spacious and will terraces with valley or sea views. Park Hyatt is ideal for families who want to soak up the sun without straying to far from home.

3. Martinhal, Lisbon

One of the most exciting openings this year is the 84-room Martinhal Lisbon Cascais Family Resort Hotel. Martinhal already has a confident reputation as a go-to for family friendly accommodation, so rest assured Martinhal Cascade Lisbon Cascais Hotel will deliver the same high standards. The latest edition to the Martinhal family will be home to a beautiful area of Cascais, dipping into the city of Lisbon, so you’ll most definitely have plenty to do.

Designed with families in mind, the resort will have a kids club filled with interactive activities to facilitate for all ages, two restaurants, and an indoor pool. Families can also enjoy golf courses, enjoy horse riding among other fantastic activities. 4. Sugar and Spice, Barbados

Sitting on the south coast of the island it has two swimming pools, five great restaurants and direct access to a pristine sandy beach, plus free non-motorised watersports.

5. St Regis Langkawi, Malaysia

After opening a hotel in Macau, St Regis will be making its way to the Langkawi, one of the Malaysian Island. You’ll find St Regis in a private cove in the south of the island, giving families ultimate peace of being miles away from home. The hotel will boast 85 suites and four water villas each with unbeatable views. Hotel amenities include, pools – one designed just for kids, six restaurants including a dining program for kids (at extra cost).  There will plenty of family activities to dive into including; jungle trekking, water sports, a yacht available to charter as well as excursions around the island. 6. Grand Hotel Du Cap-Ferrat, France

This iconic Grand Hotel du-Cap-Ferrat on the French Riviera has been taken over by Four Seasons, with a new dedicated kids club, located at Club Dauphin. This sea-themed chalet includes a mini lighthouse, a seesaw boat, slides and rope bridge. Children join in with colouring competitions and play tech games too. They can also enjoy a range of outdoor activities in the kids club garden area, which is completely secure and has a paddling pool.

Rooms are grand and neutrally decorated to match the gorgeous setting for sun filled days by the French Riviera. The hotel has several dining options including a la carte menus, afternoon tea, bars and in room dining. You couldn’t ask for more for a French family adventure.

7. Il Sereno, Lake Como, Italy

2916 is very exciting for Le Sereno. Ten years after first opening its hotel in St. Barths it launches its second opening by the luxuiourous Lake Como in Italy. Scheduled to open this spring, there’s no doubt the 34-suite hotel will be in high demand.

Lake Como is a gorgeous setting for any family holiday, but having Le Sereno alongside it will make it extra special. The design promises to be authentic to the region using materials like wood and stone. Gardens will also play a big part in the design, further allowing it to blend with its natural surroundings. The hotel offers something for all ages, with a blissful private beach and a pool suspended over the lake that teens will love. The on-site restaurant is set to be spectacular, and uses fresh local produce for tasty, hearty Italian meals.

8. Eden Project Hotel, Cornwall, UK

One of the UK’s popular family attractions, Eden Project, is launching its first hotel this year – hurrah! The Eden Project is an educational charity continuously exploring how we can work towards a better future. The Cornwall attraction is nestled in massive unmissable crater, housing plants and hosting activities throughout the year, including kids gardening courses and eco workshops.

The £6-million hotel at the Eden Project have been approved by Cornwall City Council and due to open this summer/autumn. The hotel will have 115 bedrooms, located near St Austell. The hotel will be very simple, designed to blend in with it’s beautiful natural surroundings. Of course the hotel will be sustainable and energy efficient reflecting the charity’s ethos. The hotel will offer sleeping accommodation only to encourage guests to use the facilities at the main site.

9. The Beekman, New York

Arguably one of the most anticipated New York openings is The Beekman. This impressive building, which was once home to the city’s first theatre, and is being transformed into a hotel fit for all. The nine-store atrium will remain integral to the hotels design, becoming part of lounge and bar.

Much of the interior remains a mystery but the hotel will have 287 rooms, including 45 suites, two penthouses with private rooftops, two restaurants with award winning chefs and if going down to eat is too much of a struggle after a long day of sight seeing, they’ll deliver the food to your room. The Beekman will be in the heart of the city, sharing space with One World Trade Centre. This exciting hotel promises to be masterpiece rediscovered – definitely one to keep an eye on.

10. Moxy Hotel, London

Moxy Hotels were first launched in Europe in 2013, and it is Marriott’s newest brand, targeting the three-star-tier. Moxy’s focus is on the millennial traveler, understanding that style can be delivered without breaking the bank. Moxy is saying hello to the big city to this year with plans to introduce sites near Heathrow, London Royal Docks and Stratford. If you’ve ever wanted to spend a weekend touring London’s impressive attractions, this is definitely the year to do it.

While Moxy Hotels are very tech savvy, they still offer plenty of old-fashioned treats for families. Spacious rooms will give you and kids more than enough breathing space and the hotels will boast vibrant lobbies and 24-hour cafes and bars.
