Unguja Lodge, Kizimkazi, Zanzibar

Last updated 9th June 2017

The lowdown

Vibe: A small lodge offering barefoot luxury and fab marine life.

Setting: A secluded stretch of coast on Zanzibar’s southern tip. It’s well away from the main tourist resorts, and frequented by wildlife not often seen in other parts of the island (monkeys, dolphins, hyraxes, dik-diks and more).

Why parents love it: There’s a bougainvillea-fringed swimming pool and huge architect-designed villas with open-air bathrooms.

Why kids love it: The sandy beach offers the freedom to play, swim and snorkel to their hearts’ content, and dolphin-spotting boat trips and diving instruction (ages eight-plus) can be arranged.
